EUGENE  — The maker of the highest-grossing video game on Xbox 360 Live Arcade has announced a competition to search for the best independent game developers. In conjunction with its fifth annual IndieGamesCon, a Sundance-like festival for video game makers to be held Oct. 6 -8, GarageGames will provide entrants free use of its Torque Game Builder software. Prototype games are due Aug. 25. “Players get turned off by games sanitized by corporate interests,” says Jay Moore, director of business development at GarageGames. “Our mission is to create a means for games to be made by players, for players.”
