STATEWIDE — The Oregon Employment Department plans to close nine of its 47 field offices as part of a plan to cut $25 million from its 2007-09 budget cycle. Offices in Ashland, Burns, Grants Pass, Hood River, John Day, Lincoln City, Milton-Freewater, Newberg and downtown Portland will be closed over the next year. Businesses and job seekers may continue to seek placement, development, education and training resources at nearby OED branches or partner WorkSource Oregon Centers, and online at www.employment.oregon.gov.
