New management took over at the Oregon Garden last month. Moonstone Hotel Properties of Cambria, Calif., plans to add a 100-room hotel to the grounds sometime next year, with a groundbreaking getting under way this summer. Moonstone will take over for the financially troubled nonprofit and assume the costs and responsibilities of operating the garden and paying down the garden’s debt with future proceeds. “Our long-term goal is to help revitalize the Oregon Garden,” says Lynda Gill, Moonstone’s director of operations. Moonstone owns a network of 10 inns, most of them in California and many with garden themes.
