— Murphy Plywood purchased the former Georgia-Pacific plywood mill on the west side of Eugene and reopened it in January with 250 employees. “It’s an expansion into a niche product and it stabilizes our business,” says company president John Murphy. As reported in the November issue of Oregon Business, the Murphy Plywood plant in Sutherlin burned to the ground last summer. Murphy says he’s still very interested in rebuilding on the Sutherlin site but hasn’t yet finalized plans to do so.
